A Baddie’s Secret

By Decariyae Smith

Many people believe that young teens are not able to start a business and succeed. I believe young entrepreneurs are more creative and open minded and are willing to challenge old ideas to expand their business. Young entrepreneurs represent an important proportion of the population of business owners. According to Entrepreneurship Campus, one of the biggest advantages of getting started with entrepreneurship at a young age is the opportunity to learn important skills such as teamwork, networking, problem-solving, critical thinking, innovation, self-discipline, etc. All these skills can help in school performance and later in life

Here is one entrepreneur in Arkansas who would like to tell the story behind her business:

Natasha Scott is a 22-year-old entrepreneur that lives in Blytheville, Arkansas. Scott is inspired by the fashion industry and wanted to become a fashion designer. In her words, “many people always told me I wasn’t going to make it because there were already so many better fashion designers in the industry.'' Scott continued by saying, “everyone wanted me to be a doctor or lawyer, the typical occupation but I knew I had to choose me and go for my own ambitions in life”. Natasha was inspired by her own potential and believed that she could be her own boss. She manifests growth and believes that investing in something small can turn into something big one day.

Natasha’s business’s name, which was established in 2020, is “The Baddie Secret”. According to Scott, The Baddie Secret is for women “to be able to feel good about themselves again and to show them they haven't lost anything.” She said that when she became a mom she didn't feel as pretty, so she came up with something to uplift herself and other women. However, a few mistakes have been made along the way but she has learned that experience and patience is key.

Scott explained, “I’ve made many mistakes of not doing things legally from which I had no knowledge of doing but I learned to do everything the right way and did everything legally and now I’m proud to say I run a legit small clothing business dedicated to women such as myself, but we will not be small for long!”

Advice Natasha wants to give to people that want to start a business is to “ GO FOR IT”. She said '' If it's something that you really want to do, no matter how many times you fail and want to give up , you'll always be driven back to that business.”
